Well I picked up a FAL recently in a trade. It's no DSA or real FN, but a L1A1 on a Hesse receiver. I'm slowly but surely learning about these type of rifles. I'll be posting in this thread for help. I hope you guys have some good answers for this novice.

Are metric and inch pistol grips interchangeable?

    Is my muzzle brake removable?

Can I use a screw from the hardware store for a front sight retaining screw?

Where do you guys find your replacement parts? Preferably a good prices!

Should my rear sight be all the way to the rear or towards the front for the closer distance?

thanks for the advice. My muzzle brake has no flats on it as to place a wrench to remove it. Thats why i was wondering if it was removable. This is identical to my rifle.

It might be soldered on. Try sticking a screwdriver thru the holes/slots and turning. Inch rifles are right hand thrd I think. I never heard of a muzzle brake being pressed on a FAL/L1A1. I have seen them soldered.
The rifle in the link is a CETME
