I've been studying up some more on AK mounts. I just trusted that AK meant any AK. I have a few things going on that I think contribute to my problem. I have a Tantal with a repro Tantal rail and the wire stock. So the rail sits a little bit further back on the receiver, and the scope I bought has a newer AK mount that has the scope sitting a little bit further back than the older ones. The type of scope I bought also sits further back on the mount than some and the wire stock is relatively short. What I'm going to try first is putting an old style AK rail mount on the scope and if I still need more, perhaps put a NATO length fixed stock on it. I know a scope on an AK is a contradiction to some, but my eyes are getting to that point with rifles that don't have relatively good open sights that I need optics. Ultimately, if I can't get it to work I guess I'll get a different scope or red dot and I'll just have to get a Bulgarian 74 to put this scope on. I like this scope and I'll find a way to use it one way or another.
