I have a 2009 VW Jetta TDI diesel thats gets around 50mpg on hwy. At my age it's just not comfortable enough for long trips .Getting old and calling it the golden years is bulls*** .I call it the rusted up tears :)

That Colorado looks goooooood. Although if Toyota would bring that tried and true Hilux Diesel engine over, I would definitely have to go with a proven concept.

I like proven platforms. Part of the challenge for modern diesels is meeting EPA standards. They run some complicated egr systems, particulate traps and DEF fluids to qualify. FWIW I like diesels. I drive one. I wish the refineries would increase the cetane level of diesel. That would make it much easier to meet fuel mileage and emission specs.
The original poster asked about Dodge products. Now that they are in bed with Fiat I have no idea who will supply the engine. The Liberty diesel was an Italian engine and did not have the best reputation. When Dodge was in bed with Daimler they shared some German transmissions but I don't think any Mopars other than the Sprinter used the Daimler engine. Newer Sprinters with the 3.0 are not my cup of tea. In Europe their are diesels in many flavors. Time will tell with Jeeps.
A quick test........What is the DEF fluid used in modern diesels based on?

I'd steer away from GM and their new small diesel trucks, they can't even get their gas half tons right. Lol

If I'm not mistaken, it's not so much Dodge as it is a Cummins motor in a Nissan. I know that Nissan is going to run the big boy motor in the Titan, but this one sounds like a much more compact power plant.

As it stands. The titan and the tundra will get the new Cummings motor. The duramax for the Colorado is in use in thialand . I have been reading up heavily on all the new diesels that's are supposed to be out soon. The only thing I can't gauge yet is reliability and longevity. But the new dodge diesel is getting great reviews but still less towering the some of the competition. That being said it can toe without guzzling the tank down. From what I read.
