I have only used mine in the yard. Haven't mounted it yet.
I was impressed, however I have never used any NV before.

I did buy the a recorder for it. I will try it out in a few weeks when I mount it and sight it in.

My friend and I purchased two of 3.5x scopes from Jake for hog hunting. We mainly needed something that would work well at shorter ranges (50-100yds) and didn't break the bank. Both of us have used various offerings in the $200-$600 price range and also used a borrowed scope in the $4500 range on occasion. Now, the photon is no $4500 scope, but for our purposes it does very well for the money. The build quality is good (though it is a little heavy), the included IR light gives more than enough spread and flatness for up to about 150yds without much washout, and the red illuminated dot on the reticle is a nice feature against the B&W IR image. You can easily see which end of a raccoon is the head or tail so a hog is pretty easy. All in all, we have been very pleased for what we paid (especially with Jake's discount on the group buy). The only thing I wish was better is the actual focus of the digital image. Of course you can focus on the retical like a normal scope but it would be nice to have a way of adjusting focus of the image for various distances. It does this automatically, but it would be nice to control. Probably the best bang for the buck out there for a NV device in the category.

Unfortunately I missed out on the group buy  ...anyways if anyone that purchased one and decides to sell (preferably the 5x42) shoot me a PM or text (2253496879) I might take it off your hands or swap my burris mtac on my duty rig for one (with a little cash on my end for the 5x42)...thanks

I can still get you one. Give me a call and we'll put something together.

How about some detail of your rifle there, BH? I would like to know more about it.

Sorry I didn't see this till now.
It's a Remington 700 in .308 sitting on Accuracy International stock. It has a 5 and 10 round detachable magazine. The muzzle break is from silencerco, I'm waiting for my tax stamp to return and then my Saker 7.62 suppressor will be sitting on the end of the barrel. It's not the lightest gun ever, but it is very nice.
