Looking for the good the bad and the quiet. I have a 2015 -2500 HD that I would like to put some All terrain or mud tires on. Looking for some feedback on what others have tried. Things I am looking for:

1- As little road noise as possible
2- The best grip possible with the least aggressive tire
3- Good wear 60,000 miles would be great
4- Cost as always matters however I am willing to pay for a good product

I have looked closely at the BFG A/T KO tires, so far everything has been positive. Anyone else have these?

    THANKS

I JUST bought a set of Firestone destination A/T on my truck. They replaced a set of the same tires that easily had 125K on them. Now they looked BAD when I got them changed (lol) but I was so impressed I went back with the same kind. No noise at all and very reasonably priced.

the bfg at KO are decent for price, but if you do not manage the air , they suck ass after 20k or roughly 1/4 to 1/2 tread use. They are decent on water, which was very important to me, second was noise.. they are good again if you manage the air..
put them on the correct width rim and you will get 60k out of them if you are reasonable with driving and not hauling **** daily.

All terrain and mud tires are completely different sides of the spectrum. You can't have both. You have to choose one or the other. A/T's will not work in the mud but mud tires will work in different mediums. I have never ever heard of an A/T tire that would go 125k miles and I have never ever heard of any manufacturer that could make such a claim. I personally keep 2 sets of tires. During the fall and winter I use aggressive mud tires because I am in the mud a lot and come spring I have a set of Goodyear wranglers A/T that stay on till Fall.

3/4 ton so 10 ply is a must if you use it. Skip anything offered by nitro. They wear good but I had 3 terra grapplers egg in 1 trip that had well over half tread left. I switched to bfg km2 and like them much better. They are not street tread quiet but neither is my truck.
Running fallen wild peaks in the wife's jku and rather surprised by how well they are holding up with almost 50k and only rotated once. They are 8 ply but are stiff, maybe they offer a 10 ply.
You are looking at bfg at, and they are better than street tread but do not like mud at all, they do not clean out well.

there is no tire made like that. the more off road the less on road but the ATKO by BFG is close the KM2 is nice but you will not get 60000 out of it in a 3/4 truck.
just get a good set of tires and a winch you will be ok.

Are you actually going mudding or will the truck rarely leave the pavement?

Get regular road tires and you won't have to worry about noise and premature wear.

I should add that I do tow several times a year so that is a consideration, 8000lb trailer. I hunt quite a bit and found myself in a few sticky situations this season which I would like to avoid next season. So yes I will be in some mud but not mud riding for fun.

I bought some Michelin LTX AT2's for my Tacoma middle of last year. Bought one size larger than OEM. They were just what i was looking for and are holding up well. Looks like they make them big enough for a 2500.

    What's your budget?

BFG KO2s, Toyo ATII Extremes, Copper ST Maxx, General AT2s, either one in an E-rated LT flavor. Mud tires ride like crap for everyday driving, but if you don't mind the howl and mediocre wet pavement performance there are some good options.

I had a set of Goodyear wrangler duratracs on my 06 z71. I found them very capable off-road and they were, at least at the time, a pretty good value with good tread wear and minimal tracking.

I like Michelin LTX MS2 tires which are rated better than the BFG tires in 10 of 11 categories. The BFG tire is rated slightly better in deep snow.

More of a mud tire, but I got 60k miles on my last set of 35x12.50R20 Nitto Trail Grappler load range E's on my 2500hd so I bought another set. Probably could have squeezed another 5k miles out of them when I took them off.
45psi and rotated every oil change.
Not noisy on the highway and does great in mud.

Here is a pic of my last set when I pulled them off at 60k miles.....

BFG AT KO2's. It's dark or else I'd take a pic of mine with about 13k miles on them. Fantastic tires. I was actually about to buy the toyo ATII's and saw BFG had just released these in the size I wanted. I love the BFG AT's, have alway great life and performance out of them.
