Shooting Range in High School

Where was this when I was in school? Its only for Jr ROTC with Daisy pump air rifles but I'm sure there is going to be a huge stink raised over this one.

When I was in high school, we used to go the sheriffs range and shoot .22 rifles for P E. You know that ain't happing today.

Mandeville highs MCJROTC has had an indoor air rifle range since 1997/98. Covington also has an outdoor 10 meter air rifle range.

How is this news? We built a range in ROTC as well for air rifles. LSU has an indoor range for .22.

I got my hunters safety card at school. We went to the field down the road and shot skeet for PE

St. Stanislaus we had a .22 range setup in the old gym on top floor of one of the buildings.

Before the anti-gun fanatics most universities and many high schools had rifle teams. Gun safety was typically taught after school when the boys turned 12. You could carry a pocket or folding buck knife in a sheath on your belt and no one would blink an eye. One kid brought his Dad's 357 magnum to school for his demonstration presentation to class. You could keep your rifle shotgun in your car or in the window of your of your pickup truck to go for a quick hunt when school let out. We still had testosterone fist fights but no one got stabbed or shot.

I refinished a .22 rifle as a shop project one semester in high school ('79) .. then the shop teacher (and a couple of buddies of mine) went out behind the football field and shot cans the last day of class -- sort of a "final exam". Got an "A" on it, as if it mattered!

I did the lighting design for a JROTC air rifle range 6-7 years ago for a high school in Tangipohoa Parish. I forget which one, though.
