It was a beautiful day. Everyone was having a great time, . . .

    . . . until, . . .

Joe, a friend, Naval Submariner Veteran, and range officer, worked his last shift today.

He collapsed behind a clay thrower blind on the shotgun range.

Joe had a history of coronary illness, but that did not lessen the shock of learning that a friend had passed.

Joe was a good man, who always had a smile and a cheerful word to say. Joe will be missed.

Sorry to hear this. I know it does not lessen the tragedy at all but I first thought there may have been an accidental shooting and I am glad to know it was not that. It is RO's like him who prevent accidents from happenig. Prayers go out to the family and friends of a man who served this country and kept our freedoms alive. May he rest in peace.

I got to the range just as the emergency vehicle's were arriving. I later heard he had passed away. Sorry to hear he didn't make it.

I was on the rifle line when this began to unfold. First sign of a problem was when 2 RO's ran toward the clay bird blind. The gentleman collapsed behind the blind so he was not visible to anyone on the line. An ambulance and several SO's arrived. I feared the worse when seeing that when the gentleman was lifted into the ambulance, chest compressions were still continuing. Those fears have now been confirmed.

A very sad tragedy, indeed. Thoughts and prayers to him and his family.

I feel its not a bad way to go. A great beautiful day at the range, doing what you loved to do. Prayers to his friends and family for their loss of a humble man who gave of himself volunteering.

when it is time, that is how I would love to go. Outside on a nice day doing something I love to do.

    My thoughts exactly.

We all check out at some point. I am sorry to see that Joe passed to the other side... BUT... He went out doing something he wanted to do and in a place that he liked. That is all any of us can ask for when it is our time.

Fair winds and following seas Joe, Godspeed to Heaven. +
