I have a couple of handguns that I need to send to a friend out of state. I know he has to go through his FFL to receive them but beyond that I am not sure. Can I ship them to his FFL directly or do I need to go through a local FFL (New Orleans). Paperwork required? FEDEX or UPS? Recommendations for local FFL to send them, if necessary.

    Thanks in advance!

You need a copy of the license of his FFL. Also verify whether or not his FFL accepts shipments from individuals, because some don't. If they do, find out any additional information they require (copy of DL, etc). Take all that to a Fedex hub and you can ship overnight to the FFL.

The other, probably easier, option is to find a local FFL that will ship them for you. They typically charge a fee, but it's still less than you would spend on overnight shipping. I know we (Interstate Guns in Hammond) will do it for you, not sure about FFLs in your area.
