Where are the best spots in town to find quality bourbon?

Churchills has a decent selection but over priced and the folks running the place seem to be wildly inconvenienced by you coming in.

I check Rouses and Whole Foods from time to time, but hoping to find something better.

Also what are some of your favorites for under $100?

I have really enjoying this bottle of Four Rose's single barrel.

OK, first I am a Scotch guy, so I am not able to help with best for under $100. But Calandro's on Government has a good selection. Costco even has a few good ones. (Woodford Reserve and Basil Haden)
May want to try Martin's Wine cellar as well.
The best place is Spec's in Houston, but that is a bit of a drive...

Bin Q on Perkins Rd. has a great selection

Also, if you want to sample before you buy a bottle, Lock and Key Whiskey Bar has an extensive collection.

I've heard other's talk about Calandros but didn't know there was one on government. Thanks!

And I never heard of Bin Q. I'll check it out.

It used to be called Cuban Liquor, but there was some sort of trade name issue, so they changed it. It's between College and Acadian.

I heard that they also tried naming it "Q Bin" but that was an issue as well. Either way, great place with nice people. Calandro's and Martin's Wine Cellar are also good.

Hokus Pokus in Prairieville/Dutchtown is a good spot as well. Post sober next time, you missed an O in Bourbon twice! lol.

I love Bourbon's, Ryes, and Irish Whiskies, not big on Scotch except for the Speyside stuff, no Islay for me. For the money, Elijah Craig is a crazy value. I'm also a big fan of High West's various blends, they aren't for the purist, but they do some unique stuff that comes out well. Anything out of the Buffalo Trace distillery is good. I prefer higher rye to wheat, it all is up to your palate.

My go-to mixing whiskey is actually Benchmark. It's cheap as hell and mixes well with anything, it's much smoother than it's price suggests.

Makers, honestly. I haven't ventured out to very many different brands because I just like it.

Stores: Martin's Wine Cellar, Whole Foods, Rouses, Albertson's

Bars: The Cove, Pelican House, Corporate Brew and Draft.

Would also recommend the Lock and Key but they've shuttered their doors.

Have tried scotch but can't find one I like.

Discovered Irish whiskey years ago. They replaced bourbon at the top of my list. My favorite under $100 is Tulamore DEW. The low end is $24 the 12 yr old reserve runs $46.

Lately if I drink bourbon it's been TX it's a blend out of Austin tx $35 per bottle

Albertsons should have both of these

If you intend to ruin whiskey by mixing it with a soft drink, disregard my advice.

I saw your post a few weeks ago on NFA Guns. I recommend Hocus Pocus in Dutchtown also. I went and picked up a bottle of rye on Tuesday. They have a huge selection, prices are reasonable, and the people are knowledgeable. I asked them to do a Bourbon tasting night they may have one soon. Ask about it when you go also to let them know there's interest.

Albertsons does have a great selection. Makers is excellent, and if you really want something top notch try Blanton's. Best sub $100 bottle I've had.

Everyone keeps saying that, but I have yet to pick up a bottle. I'm assuming it's good with just ice?
