Attached please find the match results for the High Power XTC match
conducted last Saturday at Palo Alto. As predicted, the weather was
fantastic for competition. We had one competitor drive in from as far
away as Gulfport and we thank him for making the effort.
The next High Power XTC match will be held Saturday the 18th of March
followed by an EIC Leg match Sunday the 19th. The 18 March match is not
a Regional or State Championship but the regularly scheduled NRA
approved match. That match is a perfect opportunity to get your zeroes
for the Leg match the next day. Registration for the Saturday match is
from 0700 to 0800 and is $15.00 for non-Palo Alto members, $12.00 for
members of Palo Alto and $5.00 for juniors. I attach a file of the Palo
Alto 2017 High Power match program and an SR-1 card. Pre-registration is
encouraged but walk-ons are welcomed the day of either match.
Registration for the EIC match is $20.00 and will be conducted from 0700
to 0800. If you want to pre-register please send a cheque made out to
Joseph Meynier and include an SR-1 card for the Saturday match (if
applicable) and your CMP competitor number for the Leg match. Mail it to
636 Andrews Avenue, Metairie, LA. 70005-2904.
To get more bang for your buck there will be a pistol Leg match
conducted after the rifle Leg match. Contact Skip Blanchard in the cc line for details.

HIGH POWER RIFLE 80 SHOT REGIONAL MATCH FORMAT

After a delayed start due to fog, twelve competitors enjoyed some of the most ideal conditions imaginable Saturday. There was no rain, solid overcast which reduced the glare, very little wind and a very cooperative mirage. Coincidentally, the February 2016 match was also delayed due to fog.
The high score of the day was achieved by High Master John Laws with a scorching 781-23 who also fired the high score in February 2016. In the combined Master/Expert class 1st place went to Robert Bose with a 773-12 who also fired the winning Master score in February 2016. 2nd Master/Expert went to Expert Mike Strikmiller with a 740-4 and 3rd Master/Expert went to Master Bruce Pickering who turned in a 727-7. In the combined Sharpshooter/Marksman class 1st SS/MK went to Lee Shall with a 724-14. It’s good to see Lee behind a rifle again.
Looking to the future, the next XTC match at Palo Alto will be held on 18 March and will be followed the next day by a Civilian Marksmanship Program Excellence in Competition Leg Match. Pre-registration is encouraged especially for the Leg match. Also of note, there will be an EIC Pistol Leg match after the rifle Leg match that Sunday.
