Interested in getting a dedicated 22lr upper for my SBR ar15 lower. Both suppressed and unsuppressed plinking, rodents, and targets of opportunity. I'm thinking in the 4"-9" length, with preference around 7"-9". My suppressor is 7"-8", and I want to stay at or under length of a 16" carbine, with suppressor installed

What is out there? What is reliable? What do you use?

If you want all ammunition to say subsonic use a 4.5" barrel max. Otherwise the silencer does no good. Or you could only shoot standard velocity or subsonic with a longer barrel. I went through this with a .22 upper, first 6" barrel and everything cracked, 5" barrel and 75% of rounds cracked, 4.5 and all was quiet.

    Good Luck

Yup 4" to 4.5" barrel and bulk ammo should stay subsonic. Pictured with a sico sparrow under a cheap handguard

Thanks for the suggestions...right now I'm leaning toward the TacSol Kestrel upper. Need to do a little more research and shopping

Noob, Craig, Cajun22...what make is the upper or barrels/bolts y'all are running?

Nothing special. Home built with a no name upper, ceiner (sp) conversion kit, 4.5" dedicated .22 barrel (from a guy on another forum, can't thing of his name( "redtazdog" maybe) that no longer makes them ), a modified barrel adapter for the dedicated .22 barrel. JP enterprises carbine length handguard, and SWR Spectre.

    automan,
I'll bring mine to the range Wed or Sat if you want to play with it - text or call me and let me know if you're coming so I'll remember to pack it. It's my absolute favorite toy out of several.

What kind of accuracy are you guys getting from the 4.5" barrels?

I have a C-more clone on top and can break clay targets at 75yds with it.

Really liking the look of the longer handguards on some of these uppers. May have to upgrade from the carbine length.
