This is from last year, and I won't DARE mention the member who brought this to me, but just discussing light weight gun smithing and wanted to share.

If you ever wanted to know how strong a forged receiver really is, it's strong enough to break a stainless grip screw off in while building it. But may I suggest, if the screw is meeting enough resistance to break before the pistol grip is tight, might wanna back it out and chase the threads with a tap.
If memory serves, this was a stripped Anderson lower.

I think I remember seeing somewhere that Anderson lowers don't thread that hole all the way so it will cause problems with longer screws. So I don't think this was a one off for you.

Did he cross-thread it? How did he snap it? Not tapped all the way down? I would think that WRENCHING down on that particular bolt would have given him a moment of pause!!! lol. Great fix! Awesome work!

The screw followed the threads but when things got tight I guess he just kept cranking down on it. I've run into tight threads or damaged threads either inner or outer before on all sorts of gun and auto related hardware but never have I had the urge to just keep wrenching. Lol, I remember the shock I felt when he told me the screw had broken. See thread title for my response.

I've had the screw bottom out on me a couple of times... but I just bought a shorter screw at Ace Hardware or shaved the screw down to fit! He must have some very expensive Allen Wrenches... the Harbor Freight sets would have rounded off before that screw gave... unless there was some kind of flaw in the screw to begin with, but I doubt it.

    Is his name "Lenny"????

This. A standard screw didn't fit, but luckily a screw that came with a MIAD grip was shorter and worked fine.

Thyread it all the way and get yourself a joe-bob's trigger screw and take out all the trigger pre travel. Major trigger upgrade with just a 10$ grip screw!

Been there too, but took a little heat to loosen it before it broke, but it had "seized" while tightening it. Can't remember if it was a Del ton or one of the cheaper lowers. I know it wasn't a Anderson though.
    Good job Magdump!
