Came across a Glock 27 that does not have the generation on the slide. I'm not much of a Glock guy myself, but have owned both Gen 3s and Gen 4s in the past, which all had the generation on the slides. If this 27 does not specify, does this mean it is a first generation Glock? Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks.

Does it have finger grooves on the grip? Does it have replaceable grip backstraps? Does it have 2 or 3 pins in the frame? I have a gen3 g19 and it is not marked on the slide as such. If it has finger grooves, 3 pins and no replaceble back straps, Im sure it is a gen 3. If it has the replaceable backstraps then I am sure it is gen 4, but then all the gen 4s I have seen are marked as such on the slide.

Here are some links that may be of help:

Try Googling "glock generations". It takes all of 15 seconds.

I have a 2 pin 19 with a tac rail and finger grooves (which I have removed). Would it be a gen 2.5? Lol

NO Glock has external lettering on gun denoting the generation.

I've owned two Gen 3s and three Gen 4s. All five of those Glocks said the generation right on the slide next to the model. For example my G23 Gen 4 literally had the Glock logo on the slide followed by "23 Gen 4"
So I guess you haven't seen too many newer Glocks, my friend.

You asked a question of the "Glock Guys", problem is you used way too many words with more than one or two syllables. Simplify it and you'll get more replies.:)
