Hi guys, long time first time...

Is there such a thing as a lightweight double barrel shotgun? My daughter is interested in skeet shooting and I'm trying to find the right gun for her. The problem is that she's crazy small, and both length and weight are an issue. I know she can hold up and aim Bantam 410 minis with no problem, but I'd really like to get her something better.

Is is there such an animal as a double barrel shotgun in the six pound range?

Not that I know of... and reasonably priced .410 doubles are hard to find. and don't forget, less weight means more recoil. She can't hold up a remington 1100? The action would lighten the recoil. Maybe a sweet 16?

There are still a few F.I.E. sxs .410s on the market. One in excellent condition runs about $300.00. Not sure of the weight, but it's about as lightweight as they come.

Franchi light autos are by far the lightest shotty I've ever picked up.
My lightest 2 barrel is a Beretta O/U field grade that I'm also fond of for a long day's carry. They are both older guns but I bet u could find one around in 20 or 12 that would suit her fine.

Perhaps too light. I've got a Yildiz, it'll beat up your shoulder with that aluminum receiver. A little mass is a good thing when you're shooting a few boxes of shells.

Exactly what I was thinking. It's always a balance between weight and recoil. Somewhere in the middle is usually agreeable.
