Another so-called "buyback". This time in Caddo Parish.

According to the article, "Forty-one guns with brand names including Hawes, Hi-Point, Sig Sauer, Sterling Arms, Winchester, Lorcin, Cobra, Mossburg, Raven, Marlow and Smith & Wesson were voluntarily surrendered Jan. 14.

In exchange, 61 gift cards worth a total of $3,050 were given to participants."

That's just a little over $74 paid for each firearm. And that was paid in the form of gift cards. You could probably score a better deal if you paid cash to those who wanted to get rid of their guns.

I wonder if regular citizens could have a gun buy back day. Get a couple of buddies and advertise for about a month. I would gladly pay $74.00 per gun. We would be doing our parts as citizens getting these guns off the street as well as getting some smoking good deals.

I wonder how many have the serial numbers ground off though.

Wait for the New Orleans buy back program . They pay much more. I unloaded some trash there last year and made $500. They pay $100 for pistols and shotguns and $200 for semi-auto rifles..
