For me, my largest qualifies for both! It would be my little five-shot Smith & Wesson .460XVR - .460 S&W Magnum.

Here is a photo of it next to one of my larger full-size 1911's. As you can see, it dwarfs the 1911 . . . .

Biggest and best for me since 1980 is my S&W Model 29-2 6.5" blue 44 Mag revolver. What a great revolver! Lots of other revolvers and pistols and stuff. Had a .460 and wish I would have kept it. Was a 5 inch flame thrower. Have a good one.

I have the same 460XVR and it's fun to shoot. Recoil is not bad at all.
My biggest before the 460 was a S&W 500. Recoil of that one was stout especially with a 350gr bullet going 1900fps and the 500gr loads. Took a stiff arm and concentration to shoot good groups at 50 yards with it. The 460 is more pleasant to shoot than a Ruger Super Redhawk in 454 and it balances quite well. I carry it in a hip holster.

Once again Curly, you come up with some very nice handguns!
I once had a S&W 29 with a 4" barrel, liked it but, economical issues at the time "dictated" that I sell it and use the funds for things that I really needed. :(

Well, let's see..... AR pistol build in 5.56 (10-1/2") is the largest, size-wise. Tie between Ruger Blackhawk and Ruger Redhawk in .44 Mag for "most powerful" handgun caliber.

And of course- can't forget the .45 ACPs for bore diameter. :dogkeke:

10.5" AR Pistol in either 300 Blackout or 5.56 depending on which upper is on it for the physically largest, biggest conventional handgun is just a full sized 1911 .45, noting extravagant.

29-3 8" barrel. Set it up purely for hunting when I bought it new. It has been the end of many hogs, deer and too many varmints to count. Dillos at 100 is like a bonus round.

Carried in a shoulder rig under my coveralls made it a nice rainy day stalking gun over the years. The UMC 180gr soft tips have always been my favorite hunting round whether in this pistol or one of my carbines.

That being said, a great overlooked round is the 454 casull. My pops still has his old Magnum Research wheel gun as well as a single shot carbine in that caliber. I do not enjoy shooting the wheel gun at all.
