While this is a tragedy (his pregnant girlfriend fired the shot), you really have to wonder what both he and her were thinking.

I'm guessing this is kinda like what a friend that's a night magistrate often hears: When the arrestee says "It seemed like a good idea at the time your Honor", he knows he's not dealing with a full 6 pack.
