I have been thinking for a while now about getting a 1911 in 10mm. I have only had one 1911 in my life and that was a GI model Springfield.

I have been looking at the Dan Wesson Razorback R10 and a couple Kimber models.

I would appreciate any advise when it comes to 1911s.

Pros and cons of the different models. I am not set on one model over another. I think I do want it in stainless though.

Would buy a 1911 from Kimber's line again

This was after I polished the flats on the slide I did the frame flats after
It was an un-fired display gun that had a few scratches on the slide
I have a background in metal finishing so was a no brainier
Here is the 9mm one i have like it also polished the flats. And smoothed the trigger out a little as it was a nice pull weight but gritty for my taste

I had all the rest. Then I purchased a kimber.I have never looked back.

Dan wesson ,,baer, etc has nothing on a kimber. They just make them sooo
    much better,parts,slide,etc...

Oh and if anyone has a g29 just sitting around and want to sell it,let me know,
I have 3-10mm and always want more.I have a kimber for carry ,but I would
    love to carry a g29:)

I was/am still looking for a 1911 10mm, I have had a couple kimbers and Dan wessons, I beleive the Dan Wesson is a step above the kimber, but the kimbers deff are no slouch!!! If I had the extra money laying around I would go with the Dan Wesson, if not the kimber would do... But I went a diff direction, lol got a great deal on a glock 40 mos 10mm, and glock is my second best shooting style next to the 1911.... So for 1/2 the cost I got into a 10mm and plan on putting a trijicon dual rmr on it... After all my resurch the only negative I could find about 1911 10mm's is "some" had frame cracking issues, mostly older deltas, and they didn't have as much chamber support as others, and my main goal was to use hot buffalo boar 180gr @1400fps, or 220gr @1300fps. Not saying the 1911 won't hold up as good as the glock, I was just looking for somthing to put a rmr on also, and with all that being said. I would LOVE A 1911 10mm to add to my 1911 line up lol

I have a 17 round 10mm 1911 from Rock Island Armory. It was at the sub $1k price point that I wanted to be at for what is, at the end of the day, just a safe queen. After several trips to the range it is actually quite impressive. Extremely accurate, has eaten everything I have fed it, and came with some pretty nice features : G10 grips, flared magwell, skeletonized trigger, etc

I would think the weight of a 1911 would be really nice for hot 10mm loads from a shooting standpoint. I am a Glock guy and have been considering at G40 vs. 1911 for a deer/pig/fun gun. If I was going the 1911 route it would probably be a Rock Island. I've mainly heard good stuff about them of late and would be buying it to shoot more than look at...

The only problem I see with a Kimber 10mm is the fact that in true Kimber fashion you may have to run 500rds through it to get it reliable.

That was definitely a concern. My father had a Desert Warrior when they first came out and it would not cycle a magazine. He ended up trading it for two GI models.

Didn't know if that was still an issue.

Why 10mm? I thought that 9mm superiority over all other weapons was settled science?

    ;-)

Anyhow, all that you mentioned are quite nice. Of those, I'd love a nice Dan Wesson myself. I wouldn't turn my nose up at a Kimber either.

Nice little pea shooter. LOL, 10mm are fun, how does it shoot, I have only shot one 10mm gun.

But, now you have a 10mm, you should get a 9mm, just a giggle to shoot the 9.

It shoots good but ended up ordering the Dan Wesson Razorback from IG today taking advantage of the tax free weekend.

Anyone know who mills 1911 slides to accept a red dot like the delta point or doctor?

Several 1911 smiths hang out over here: https://www.1911addicts.com/forums/

A few of the smiths have some awesome 'work in progress' picture threads.

I am planing on sending one of my 1911's to Dave at Evolution Armory one of these days. https://www.evolutionarmory.com/
