    (Reuters) New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu today announced a new statue at Lee Circle to replace the figure of Robert E. Lee that was recently removed. Said Mayor Landrieu "We decided to go with an internationally recognized, iconic New Orleans native who will represent the city much better that that old statue of a Confederate war hero. In addition, Lee Circle will now be known as Lootie Circle.

    No, that report is fake news. They've already renamed it and have the new statue up. They didn't have much money, so they sold the rights to a famous celebrity for promotional purposes.

    They should have left the statues up, there by saving the money they spent on their removal. That way they could have paid for the maintenance on the pumps to keep areas from flooding from the last rain storm they experienced! :mad: But, that is mitch for you!

    That was the way I was thinking. Could have even brought new pumps for what they spent.

    I know you are joking here but I drove by the site recently and found it just sad. The destruction of a historically relevant statue and the lack of true knowledge of history highlights the dumbing down of Americans that has occurred under progressives.

    Right after the flooding, Mayor Landrieu immediately proclaimed it's not his fault, and announced heads would roll. But your point is well taken, and in effect because of the priorities Landrieu set, it's all his fault. Unless he had been actively doing everything he could to ensure the pumps were fully funded, and wasn't wasting money on other less important things, then the protection of the city is his number one priority. He failed in doing so, the buck stops at his desk.
