Just installed a new Timney trigger in my Rem 700 in 7mm Rem mag and the description says 1.5-4lbs and after installed it won't go lighter than 3lbs. And sometimes the firing pin won't reset... any help would be great!

    Thx in advance!

Sear engagement is off. (most likely) Also check the trigger/safety doesn't bind in stock.
Do you have instructions? Can you find the adjustment procedure from Timney?

Trigger safety doesn't seem to be binding but I'll double check. Instructions don't say much along the lines of adjustment but I did unscrew the trigger weight screw and it didn't go down much in weight but did seem inconsistent once I did that. Haven't looked for Timney procedure yet.

I would try it out of the stock, according to Timney's adjustment procedure. Then check for binding in the stock.

I am not up on the Timneys but that sounds like not enough sear engagement.
I think the sear engagement comes first, then weight, then creep but am just guessing.

I have a different brand trigger and the spring has to be changed for the weight range.

Ima check a few things before I bring it to a gunsmith.... any recommendations?!

That's the only thing I ever had to do on a Timney trigger is to slightly relieve the stock or trigger guard to provide clearance. Good luck.
