I would be interested in learning "how you broke the code" to get one.

I have a partial VA disability rating for partial hearing loss but have been unable to get a hearing aid. I have a nice, new VA card now though. <sarc>

I have NOT involved my local Congressional "critter" yet though.

Suggestions or pointers, if you care to share ...

Complain if you don't get the answer you are looking for...
I have them. Outside the ear models. They help making things louder but not much clearer. Very good for 1 on 1 conversations in a not so busy [loud] environment. Crowded rooms, loud surroundings are really annoying, and I usually take them out because everything gets garbled, talking on the phone is still a pain in the ass. ,,,,And don't sweat or get them wet,,,,I think in 5 yrs I can get another set and will try the in the ear style.

It took a couple years of complaining and multiple hearing test. I finally got an appointment at the old VA in New Orleans and saw one of the " H.M.F.I.C". She hooked me up right away with no more ********. The NEW VA hospital on Tulane is a much improved facility to go to. No more 5 or 6 different people to check you in asking the same questions. They need to justify the billion dollar cost overrun and will do their best to please.

If you have a Veterans Choice card, call the number on the back and speak to them. If you live more then 45 miles from a specialist you have the right to get treatment, care ,,etc... from a local "civilian facility"

I went to the La. War Vets. home in Jackson La. and got the La. Veteran Service Officer (VSO) to send off for my records. They mailed the records to me. Then I went back to the VSO and she put in a claim for Tinnitus and Hearing Loss and enrolled me for Veteran Health Benefits.
That was April and on June 7 they had me go to Hammond La. to a outside the VA hearing center for the C&P exam.
Then I waited for the VA to do whatever they do with the exams and make their decision on what the will do.
They awarded me a 10% disability for the Tinnitus and 0% Bilateral hearing loss, which means my hearing is service related.
So they started my disability May 1st.
I made a appointment with the Audiologist at the Baton Rouge VA clinic and I go Aug. 29th to get my hearing aids.

The hearing aids you can get from the VA now are the best you can buy.
