I need to have a 4L60E rebuilt. 3Rd and Overdrive are slipping. From what I read on line that is normal for a 2009 Chevy Express 1500 Van. I will pull the transmission out.

There's a member on here that works at a transmission shop in the westbank. Forgot his screen name, but the shop is Van's transmission on Belle Chasse hwy.

Why not pull the transmission out and replace it with a 4L80E? I believe they are the same size and interchangeable and the 80E is much stronger. Would save you the cost of a rebuild.

Would require a modified harness, new slip yoke, trans mount, driveshaft, tune, converter, etc... It's not a difficult swap, but certainly not bolt on and go.

I figured there was at least one thing. That said, I think it would be a better rout unless OP can find a low miles 60E at a good price for a direct swap. Should be able to as they are darn near everywhere.

Thanks for the info on the Westbank transmission guy. Every place I call wants $1200 to rebuild my transmission. I will try custom built transmissions.

$1200 to rebuild a trans that's cheep, I've never seen anything below $2000, On average at least for me it's been around $2400

I pulled out my 4L60E transmission last year and got a replacement from A-OK Transmission and Auto Salvage in Eunice for $700 (with warranty). Wouldn't hurt to give them a call and see what they've got on hand.

    http://www.aoksalvage.com/

Typical costs for a trans rebuild in the Alexandria area at the time was $2600 for the full service pull/rebuild/reinstall or $1800 for me to pull/reinstall and the shop to just do the rebuild. I just pulled my trans and took it with me to A-OK, handed them the old one and picked up the new one. They'll also just hold your check for a core charge then return your check when you bring back the old trans. These guys are impressive, got about 60 acres of vehicles for parts and also have the Trans shop.

I considered the 4L80E swap and did a lot of research. It is not a direct swap, requires lots more modifications than I was willing to attempt.

Googled the transmission number and a place in Florida is selling new ones for ~$900. Called Monster transmissions.
