Officer Jason Stockley was found "not guilty" in the 2011 death of Anthony Lamar Smith. I've always been a "law and order" guy, willing to give the benefit of doubt to the LEO -- but there are just too many cases like this, and this one seems to me like another questionable acquittal!

I have seen many questionable acquittals in my lifetime, but the American way is to accept a judges decision and move on, not destroy a city.

After reading my response, I realize accept is the wrong word. But there are ways to show your displeasure without tearing up the city.

Yea right. Sit-ins, hunger strikes, silent protests? Remember, the squeaky wheel gets the grease.

The judge reviewed all the known information on the situation, and found there was reasonable doubt that the cop shot him WITHOUT a legitimate self-defense reason. A gun was found, perp was not complying with commands, so it is reasonable to assume he might have been reaching for the gun. Lacking real evidence against the cop's version, not guilty was the only logical decision. That's our system.
