    A makarov, bulgarian type.
Cabellas had 3 bulgarian makarovs on sale for $199. Signed up for the cabellas visa and got $25 cabellas bucks. $194 out the door.
I picked the best built one, one had better finish on it tho.
I didn't even have time to play with it as I had to run to school.
So who has a mak and where is the best place to buy ammo?

I have several makarov`s. Love the little pistols.
Locally i buy ammo at Cabelas. SG ammo is where i
buy my ammo in bulk. Not a bad price for the makarov.

i paid $18/box for ammo at cabelas. ill check out SG. thanks.
and cheapest online price ive seen for a makarov lately is $245. that would have been close to $300 after all expenses, thats why i jumped all over this one.

That price is closer to what they were selling for when they were first imported years ago.
I own two east german maks and a bulgarian. They are real easy to strip down for a good cleaning.
Make sure the firing pin channel is very clean. The firing pin should be free to move back and forth easily.

Academy in BR, on Airline has ammo. Monarch brand, steel case, made in Russia. The lacquered case and headstamp looks identical to the Brown Bear ammo, it's just repackaged. I looked a few days before Christmas and they had about 8 boxes; this store tends to keep it in stock. I haven't seen any at the Siegan store.
    Price was $12 a box of 50.

Re: steel cases, that's actually the intended case for the gun, so don't even hesitate on buying it. I have 5 guns in this caliber, including an East German Mak and a Russian doublestack.
You done good with that price.

Earlier in the year I bought an Arsenal mak. This one is a bit unusual as it is marked 9X17 which is the same as .380. It is a nice shooter. Note that the serial number is partially photoshoped out.

thanks. ill swing by academy. that price is barely 4 cents higher than the bulk stuff. and ends up cheaper after shipping.
