I have a Knight KP-1 that fails to fire 3 out of 5 shots. It seems to be an issue with the transfer bar. I've spoke to a local gunsmith in Houma, he told me that he has worked on a couple of these with the same problem but couldn't fix it. Does anyone out there have any advice?

Knight rifles are out of business, so replacement parts are scarce. There is a company that was handling all of their repair work but I do not know if they are still around. I had a KP1 45-70 but got rid of it because of the known problems of the fire control mechanism and lack of repair options. I didn't have any problems with my particular rifle but it wasn't shot much and I didn't want an expensive tomato stake if it broke.
