    Looking for a youth model 20 gauge 870. My son killed his first duck this year with a borrowed gun, and I am wanting to let him practice over the off season, so that next year he will be comfortable with the gun.

    Not 100% looking for an 870, but I know they are reliable guns. Looking for any youth model 20 gauge. He is 8, so it needs to be short.

    You might want to check out the Maverick youth 20ga. Maverick is owned by Mossberg and is made in Mexico. (I believe) I bought one for my son a couple of years ago and have been very pleased with it. It was $200 brand new from Bud's Gun Shop online. It's not the quality of a Remington or actual Mossberg, but I figure he will only use it for a couple of years then move to on to an adult size.

    The stock has a removable portion to make is shorter for little guys. He was 12 when he got it and has used it full length since the start. I'd think with it removed it would be good for your son's age.
