So, here's the hostility I'm talking about. I mean, if someone offers $300 for a nice P226, I get it, that's ridiculous. But, if you have something priced at NIB levels and you're offered a more reasonable used price, how can you be mad at that? Or even if you're offered a "lowball" price, you can just say no and end the conversation. Or if you are a little more savvy, and not so cranky (you're too young to be so cranky, Austin) you could negotiate a sale that is palatable to both parties. A good negotiation is one that leaves both parties satisfied. By getting all pissed off at the lowball offer (even the $300 guy) you may be losing a sale that, had you taken the time to talk to the person, would have ended up as a win-win.

It always amazes me when people dealing in used items are unwilling or hostile to negotiating. It really doesn't make any sense, unless you absolutely just don't care if you sell it or not.

I get this too... but a lot of times, the LOW BALL'R gets offended when you say no and tries to convince you he/she is justified in the offer! :)

Ignoring them usually ends up making it worse. Telling them you "will only entertain serious offers" usually fires them up, but doesn't lead to angry responses.

I totally get it when someone does have a nice piece, good accessories and /or upgrades done that are worth the money. But 7 different kydex holsters don't qualify. For me the burns when it's a bone stock used item, without all factory accessories, that is priced within sales tax of a new purchase at my local store... and THEN they're even like... "you need to drive to meet me..."

Meh, I'll get off my soapbox now. Thanks for making this thread entertaining today!

I would like to think that many people who post for sale ads bump the price up artificially knowing that some dipshit is going to offer them much less than what it's worth anyway. Basically, starting off with a highball in order to counter the inevitable lowball.

Seemingly one of the only smart people on this forum. He's referring to my ads. I'm currently negotiating well below the asking price on these firearms. Some people would rather hear themselves talk. All you have to do is inquire.

I looked at a few of your ads.

I'd be willing to make an offer if the prices were more reasonable. I dislike having to make offers on items marked at retail prices. It feels as though the seller is trying to pinch out as much as possible, rather than looking to make a deal.

I've never looked at your ads or any of your for sale posts. But lots of people (most) do that. I did it on my most recent sale post.

I've had fair amount of luck selling and trading here. But still my favorite is my gun gets the used price and your gun gets the brand new full msrp price for trade value.

    This.
I always ask what I’m willing to take and have no problem telling someone that I’m asking a fair price when they try to lowball. The other thing to consider is people selling something they bought new may just have been conned into paying some extremely high price for the gun in the first place. Like they bought it at Cabela’s because they had a Cabela’s credit card.
I paid $299 for my mossberg shockwaves and then a modest FFL fee to transfer them over. I would not expect to get more than $325 for the one still wrapped up although I’m seeing them for $369 in stores

But... but... they were owned by me! That makes them collectible! I'll even print a certificate for you for only an extra $50... that means they're worth more! :)

We are just kidding around. But therein is the reason why we are not letting anyone but the OP post price in Advertisments.

Yeah, it's gotten a little silly. Very low salesmanship savvy. Perhaps sunk cost fallacy or perceived value problems as well.
Just as well; the recent market movement has me eyeing putting money towards investments rather than toys.
Ive been dumping spare dollars into silver and Crypto..... If the Block Chain turns out to be the future of technology ill at least be 2nd wave.

I haven't bought a new gun in weeks. Once I have gotten enough Ethereum in my portfolio I should be able to round out my election collection and ammo supplies.
