Has anyone here taken the plunge on either the new Colt Cobra or the Kimber K6s?

In my quest to find the perfect compact revolver I find myself curious about these two guns. I have a soft spot for J frame-sized revolvers (my first handgun was a Model 60), and I enjoy seeing how each company reinterprets this compact package as their own.

I know that the new Colt Cobra offends a lot of Colt purists that correctly note that it's not the snake gun of yore, but I'm not so much looking to compare it to a classic Python or King Cobra, as I am to a Smith J frame or a Ruger LCR. And while I'm not a fan of Kimber semi-automatics, I am curious to see what a company does when they're completely new to revolvers.

The best prices for each of these guns in the area seems to be in the $750 range, which gives me a bit of a pause -- especially when I can get an LCR (a fine little gun that has surprised me with its performance) for half that price.

Thoughts? Is this just expensive junk for rich toy collectors, or do any of you own one and feel that it was worth the investment?

Have shot both but don't own either one.
The Colt is quite a bit less refined than previous iterations.
That said, it fired and grouped just fine.
The Kimber, in my opinion, was far better in fit/finish than the Colt.
It too fired and grouped just fine.

Despite my dislike of Kimber firearms in general, (not interested in a debate about this,) I would purchase it over the Colt were it my money.
    YMMV.

I shot an old Colt cobra recently and I have the Kimber K6s in the 3 inch model. They both shoot well. The Kimber will sting like crazy with 357 rounds, so you're not gaining much by getting a 357-capable pistol. I'm able to hit plates at 15 yards with either. If you want to meet me at a range to pop off a few rounds through the K6s, I should be in BR Sunday. If not BR, then Sherburne.

Don't overlook the SP101 in .357. I have one of the earlier ones and to tell you the truth when I get a hankering for a new small frame gun (like the Kimber K6) I pull out the Ruger and realize that it still is da nutz as far as a compact .357 revolver goes. I'll take it over a steel J frame every day.
