I bought a new Glock 17. In the past i just shot them straight out of the box. However, i have read in different places people clean them from the factory? What about you guys here?

I typically just run wet patch then a dry patch with a the correct size jag down the barrel and wipe down the slide rails and oil then have a day of fun.
After a day of shooting of a new gun, I'll do a detail strip, clean and re-oil.

I all ways take apart clean. I am pulling it down to do an inspection anyway. So might as well clean and lube while at it.

New or Used, Whether its been cleaned or not, I always do a quick cleaning on a "new to me" firearm before shooting it. It gives you a chance to get familiar with the weapon, notice any potential issues that the weapon may have/you may have with the weapon, and it gives you the personal satisfaction of knowing without any doubt that its safe and ready to fire.

The grease that comes in a glock is a mild abrasive used to fit the parts on the gun. Glock recommends you shoot the gun a couple hundred rounds before cleaning it off.
