I do not think many Pastors will allow a Church Security Team without a CHP and the additional training.
I would not want to rely on people whose ONLY Firearms Training was a CHP CLASS.
I would prefer a Team with Military and or Law Enforcement background and the additional training currently required.
A good Tactical Handgun Class will greatly exceed the current Louisiana P O S T Law Enforcement Training requirements.

I do not think that you should need the approval of the pastor/priest. I actually like the requirement for extra training. That's a variable that is in my control. Another party saying yea or nae is not....

Agreed. Those that are doing it now will probably continue to require it. But I can see a church that’s new to the *carry team* idea not requiring the training due to lack of knowledge that it was ever a requirement.

My take is, additional training should be required, and the approval of a Pastor. Reason, you have people who are hotheads, or don’t use common sense, and would start shooting 40 yds across a congregation not worrying about collateral damage. Think about it, would you want that?
