I went to the range with a brand p229 sas in 40s&w with an srt. The gun shot pretty good and for some reason I was able to ring steel with it in DA much easier than in sa. Anyway after my first 2 mags I experienced a problem where after loading 10 rounds in the 12 round magazine the follower would get stuck and all the rounds would be loose and could fall right out of the mag.

So I disassembled the mag used some gun scrub to clean it with a light oiling and the problem persisted. When it did work I experienced sporadic ftfs. Is there a fix or is this typical for factory 229 mags. Should I start looking for after market mags?

I have a 229 in .357 SIG. Uses the same mags (.357 SIG is 9mm projectile on 40 cal cartridge). I have three factory mags and have never had issues. At $40 each, I would consider sending them back if I had those issues. I have looked at Mec-Gar because I use them in my 1911, but they are just as expensive as Sig mags.
