When I was stationed in New Hampshire in the mid 70's, the gun shops down in the People's Republic of Massachusetts were not allowed to take a firearm out of the display case unless you had a Purchase Permit from State Police. That certainly stopped the gun violence in the Combat Zone in Boston!

When I PCS'd from Pease AFB, I applied for the required Transport Permit to drive through Massachusetts. It was denied with no reason given. I drove south on I-95 at 5 mph below the speed limit all the way through that damned state and didn't stop!

Yeah, try putting that kind of mandate on all of the already overworked, understaffed, underfunded police departments and sheriff's offices nationwide, especially in larger states with citizens more accustomed to exercising their freedoms on a regular basis. Our department can barely keep above minimum staffing levels on the street, much less designate an investigator to spend their time on something like this.

It is not surprising that state's lower courts upheld denying this man a permit to exercise his constitutional right. The same state's supreme court foolishly asserted that only weapons in common use at the time the second amendment was written were protected in a case of a homeless woman who was a domestic violence victim was arrested for possessing a taser.

maybe she should have gotten the taser model of 1776, the one that is powered by a large mule.

Ben Franklin made the colonial taser. It consisted of a kite with a key on a string. However, it could only be deployed during a thunderstorm, so it was not too practical.
