It is easy to reholster into a kydex IWB holster.
On the other hand, my leather IWB holsters will compress when the pistol is removed.

Is there a way to support or brace the top of a leather IWB holster so it will stay more open to make it easier to re-holster a pistol?

I miss the old school look and feel of a leather holster. I have a couple of Don Hume IWBs. Those remind me of times past as a patrolman a couple of decades (or so) ago.

Ive got a couple of my Dads iswb holsters from when he was a detective. Both of them have what I remember as a band of flexible spring steel in them. They do compress a bit but not all the way closed. I don't know if had them made or if they were factory production.

    Thanks OppsImissed.

The flexible steel band feature that you mentioned is what I've been looking for.
I haven't found any IWB holsters online that mention that feature, and I've been looking for a while.

    The quest continues!

    INSIDE WAISTBAND CLIP-ON (OPEN TOP)

This inside the waistband holster is made of lightweight leather and form molded. The top opening of the holster is reinforced to aid in reholstering the weapon. The design works well strong side, crossdraw or behind the hip.

    Thanks Opps, much appreciated.

    I have one of those.
    https://www.donhume.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=35

It is reinforced at the top with an extra band of leather.
I don't know whether it has a steel band as well.

My experience with it is that, while it might not close completely when the pistol is removed, it doesn't stay open enough for the squared slide on my semiauto pistol.

However, I can see how it might work well with, for example, a narrower pistol such as a James Bondish Walther or a snub nosed 357.

    Thanks again.

Always preferred leather holsters but kydex makes more sense for cc in my opinion.

Leather is Old School and Kydex is New School. Most prefer Kydex but whatever works for you.
