How can you throw Sig Sauer under the bus? Sig is kickin ass and makin guns! Sig is supplying the Army and many police with the P320, parts and ammo, and producing to catch up with demand for the P365. Most retailers have waiting lists to get a P365.

Meanwhile S&W introduces a M&P version 2 and Glock introduces a model 19 with +2 capacity. Yawn, Yawn....zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

It would be better if they made kick ass guns.

DoD evaluation says the Army’s new Sig Sauer P320 service pistol is riddled with issues (January 30, 2018)
https://sofrep.com/98976/dod-evaluation-says-armys-new-sig-sauer-p320-service-pistol-riddled-issues/

From the article:
"Perhaps more disconcerting, however, were the other issues the Pentagon’s testing exposed: in two instances, the trigger assemblies in pistols splintered apart during use – an issue that had never come up before Sig implemented changes to the trigger to resolve the drop-test failure. This means the new components intended to solve one problem may have inadvertently caused another.

The report also went on to indicate that the pistol has a propensity for ejecting live rounds alongside spent shells, though it clarifies that this does not usually result in a misfeed or malfunction. Nonetheless, ejecting live rounds could be a concern in combat zones, where every round may count in some survival situations. According to the tests, the issue becomes more prominent the more often the pistol is fired.

That isn’t the end of the MHS’ ammunition woes. While the pistol apparently has no issue cycling the Army’s new XM1153 *special purpose* cartridge, a hollow point round, it apparently does not function reliably when loaded with the standard XM1152 *ball* rounds used most often in service. In order to qualify as a military service weapon, the pistol must be able to fire 2,000 rounds without stoppages at least 95% of the time – a standard both the M17 and M18 pistols were able to meet with hollow points, but with standard ammo, that reliability rate dropped to a dismal 75% in the full size platform, and an even worse 60% on the compact one.

It is unclear what steps the Army has taken to resolve these issues, but the report does indicate that the Army is working with Sig to address them. In the mean time, the pistol platform began distribution to Army units last November, meaning those pistols will either suffer these reliability issues, or will have to be repaired in the near future."

Do you think those troops carrying the new Sig into a combat zone would rather a gun made by a kick ass company or a yawn yawn gun with proven reliability?

So why the hell would they be replacing a solid weapon (Beretta M9) with a weapon with known issues? Somebody getting paid off somewhere, big time.

Exactly, but more importantly, if the Pentagon gave a pass to any weapon that apparently miserably failed military testing, why are there no bodies swinging from the gallows? That’s our boys’ lives at stake. Who the hell would knowingly outfit them with defective gear?

Once Sig submitted an extremely low bid testing was stopped and never completed.

... and Sig wins again with the *me too* crowd lining up to buy these things.

Last weekend I put the thousandth round through my boring 19X, which has eaten a diet of everything under the sun. Zero FTFs and FTEs, and I haven’t even bothered to run a bore snake through it yet. That’s the kind of gun I’d want to go into battle with.

There are some really nice larger caliber Derringer types that should be considered too while you're researching concealed carry alternatives. Bond Arms is one such company.

We never forgot that everything we were issued, including the stuff that was meant to give us the best chance of surviving, was bought from a company that underbid another company.

But there has to be performance standards too. Especially when it comes to a firearm.

Yes, almost all of the equipment performed as it should have.

And Sig was $100 million less than the autistic Austrian company. :mamoru:

Yes, almost all. Almost being the important word. As any reasonable person would conclude, Sig's pistols are not performing as they should. Unless, of course, you see ejecting live rounds and disintegrating triggers as desired features.

Army, Sig Sauer ‘Confident’ In Modular Handgun System Despite Alarming DoD Report

"But what the DOT&E report didn’t reveal, officials say, is that the Sig Sauer and the Army both corrected the issues through a number of upgrades to the original P320."

Your article makes no mention of the ammunition issues with the standard XM1152 *ball* rounds used most often in service. It only mentions *The MHS meets, or exceeds, all safety and operational requirements with XM1153 jacketed hollow point ammunition for which it is optimized.* The article I posted acknowledged that as well. Your article also does not address the trigger issue that arose after the trigger was upgraded. And your article doesn't mention that the live round ejection was addressed, only that it was reported. So of the 3 issues I quoted in my previous post, your article addressed none of them.
