    The poison is not as bad as you make it out to be. Its not DDT any more. From what I've read if a dog eats a poisoned rat it will make him thirsty. ( Its another story if he eats a box of rat poison...)

    Before you buy the revolver try a few semiauto .22 pistols - Ruger & Browning buckmark primarily.

    I'd think the night vision scope on the rifle is unnecessary weight.

    That's the problem right there.. Cat's should live outside and kill rodents for food. If the cat and dogs both stay inside why it a problem. They must tolerate each other. Just put the cat out at dusk and let it in before you go to sleep and see if it makes a difference in a week. Then gradually keep the cat out all night. I" ll bet the mouse problem will go away.
    It's in the cats nature to hunt them down.
