I’m new to owning a revolver and noticed when the cylinder is closed the bullets will slide forwards and rear wards until they hit the backplate. Is this normal?

If the tolerance was tight enough to keep the cartridge from moving it would bind up with some brands as all case heads are not the same thickness . My old Smiths have recessed cylinders but during the 70s Smith& Wesson decided it was unneeded ( cheaper to make without). That is a beautiful gun .
