    hello;

    removing ugly flower bed, have no idea what was in the flower bed. was going to use azaleas but from reading about them, azaleas can't stand afternoon sun. need suggestions for shrubs or flowering plants. thanks for any input.

    We have 2 azeleas that get afternoon sun, no issues. The miniature rose shrubs are doing well there also. (for the record I had absolutely NO input in the plant selection or placement.... I attribute their success of course to the fact that they were placed in an absolutely perfectly dug hole!)

    Tomatoes ! Red okra is a member of the Hibiscus family and makes a lovely Yellow flower.
    Eggplant or any variety of hot or green peppers or water melons.....I keep Sweet Bay Laurel trimmed into a nice shrub and dry the leaves for use in cooking . If you have a place for a small tree a Sassafras Tree is nice, dry the leaves and grind for File'.
    My thought is , If I'm going to plant something I want it to grow something I can eat . Since it is in the back no one will steal those wonderful tasting tomatoes . I just picked a bag full of ripe ones this morning....BLT's tonight !
