I have friend that is giving / selling me his suppressor.

Everything will be done in state.

    He is NOT a ffl.
The suppressor is owned by his company a S_Corp I think.

I guess that means it is on a 4 forum, righ??

    So my questions are
Do I need to do a forum 4 myself to be able to purchase it?

Does it matter what it is on, or how it is right now?

Will a 7.62 suppressor work on 6.5 creedmore?
(It is a AAC ) if that matters

    Thanks for the help

Submit a form 4 transferring the current ownership on his form 4 to a form 4 with your information on it then once it's approved you may take possession of that item. And yes concerning majority of 30 caliber suppressors: Sub calibers can be run on silencers because they are rated for greater pressures than would sub calibers will be producing.

    Do I
    Or
    Should I
send a copy of the original paper work.
When I send the new form 4 in ?

Also should include a bill of sale when I send in the form ?

I have bought from dealers before, but never done it this way before?

When do I send in the info to local CLEO? Do I send it in after I get approved? Or at the same time, I send to the ATF?

The paperwork process is a real pain in the ass in this post 41-F environment. Do not send the original documents in. You don’t need CLEO approval but you do need to do notification. If you are going to do this yourself you need to start by printing a form 4 and reading all of the instructions carefully and then asking questions regarding anything that isn’t clear.

We do draft form 4s for person to person transfers. We charge $100 and handle everything including mailing to both the ATF and CLEO. We also offer livescan pics and prints and trust drafting (if desired) at an additional fee. I know that you may not want to spend this much money in a suppressor (which has very little to no value in the secondary market anyway) but just be prepared that you may have multiple kickbacks drafting the paperwork yourself. There are many gunshops out there that don’t understand NFA paperwork and we recently had to fix transfer documents poorly drafted by another large local gun shop. It was horrific.
