    Browning "Expert"

I just picked up a Browning A5 on a trade.

But I can't figure out what it actually is??

I know, sounds weird. But here goes.

    It's a twenty
It has NO engraving of any kind
    It's light as hell
    It has screw in chokes

Looks to be made by FN, but barrel is stamped "Japanese"

Was told by the previous owner it was made by browning as a "lighter" twenty?

A couple more pics showing more than a serial number would help but I’ll give it a go as a big Auto 5 fan.
The gun was made in Japan between 1976 and the late 90’s, was likely designated a *light 20* and hopefully you have a couple of the invecter choke tubes with it if it’s indeed a screw in choked barrel.
A precious few *Superlight* 20’s were made in the 1960’s (alloy receivers) but not in Japan. It is not uncommon for the Japanese models as well as the savage and Remington models to be void of any receiver engraving. Most people know of the *sweet 16* which was a shaved down lighter model that Browning really should have done in 20 also.

Awesome. Those are some sweet shotguns and fetch a premium. I remember the barrels being rated for steel shot when the Belgium models were not and people buying those Japanese barrels to swap out. Good steel.
