They actually already have 3D printing for metals it is just expensive at this time. Rocket companies are actually using it to 3D print engines so it would stand to reason that it can take heat and pressure. It is just that at the current moment it is expensive to get into 3D printing of metal for materials and equipment.

All it takes is a $4000.00 printer, and a bit of your time. Dude above is using a metal insert barrel. Single shot, plastic gun. Didn't hold up too well with a .357 mag cartridge.
