Yesterday afternoon I decided that a good potato salad would be on the menu for dinner.
That was a great side to go with the rice and gravy along with some purple hull peas. Then I thought some fresh homemade bread would go perfectly with last night's meal.
So, during the afternoon I made the dough and set it aside to rise.

To not have rolls get stale I punched down and only used half of the dough and made one dozen rolls and put that on the counter to rise. the other half went in the fridge to be used in a day or so.

Timing it so we eat about right as the bread comes out of the oven can be tricky sometimes. They had risen in almost perfect time and went into the oven looking beautiful.

Meanwhile the meat was braising in the gravy.

Right as the rolls came out of the oven I passed a stick or butter over the tops of them
to give 'em a lil buttery goodness.

The peas were frozen purple hull peas that look pretty much like black eye peas to me but they were pretty darn good. I cooked them in a lil water with butter, diced jalapeno peppers, salt and pepper and diced red onion. They had a little spiciness to them but I like 'em.

Later I went in the kitchen and saw one roll left in the pan. This morning I got up and that one roll was gone. Lol..... I guess they were pretty good!
