Just saw an article that the State of Louisiana has removed Citibank and Bank of America from financing any highway improvements in the state due to their gun policies. If enough other states do that it would stop this back door method of trying to put the gun industry out of business.

Go re-read the article- its not a done deal yet; and of course, Dum bel edwards opposes it

Better read the article linked in #6 post above. It's a done deal.

"In a narrow 7-6 vote, the State Bond Commission refused to allow Citigroup and Bank of America to work as underwriters on the interstate highway financing deal."

Typical Dem - Repub battle. JBE opposes the decision. Too bad he doesn't oppose raising taxes and the Medicaid expansion he approved as soon as he was sworn in as gov. (which will cost the state (read taxpayers) millions in a few years) Too bad JBE isn't for cutting government spending when faced with a huge budget deficit.

Interesting to read about this in the morning's news.

My guess is that this will end up in court, and how that gets decided is anyone's guess. But this is a great shot across the bow that some states will not kowtow to these companies playing fast and loose with the freedoms of law-abiding Americans. In that sense the war has already been won, even if later court battles are lost.

In the past, the federal government has prosecuted various people under Civil Rights terms. They've included the Klan, various murders and a few other sort of crimes in which the charge in federal court was violating someone's civil rights by the murder (which is not a federal crime generally) of a person. If gun rights are protected under the constitution, aren't they "civil rights?" And if so, shouldn't these banks and financial institutions be brought up on federal charges of conspiracy to interfere with or restrict civil rights?

At the very least, banks and financial institutions ought to be considered "public accommodations" which are prohibited by law from denying service to people based upon their exercise, or non-exercise, of civil rights.
