Can anyone help ID what type of Goose, Duck, etc? this is, it was spotted today by a pond in SW Louisiana. The body size seems to be large for a duck.

    Thanks

When I was growing up, we had one for a pet. VERY effective guard dog. Always attacked our mailman. Would follow him up and down the fence line.

This one was certainly wild, and not normally at the pond, which usually has a number of Canadian Geese and other varieties of wild ducks on it. Last week I saw a wild Mallard on the same large pond maybe 75 feet away from where this photo was taken (it almost flew into my car), which itself is unusual.

wild and tame hacked to wild are vastly different.. I suspect it was likely hatched and raised then decided to move.. they are rarely too
far away from place of hatching..
