Latest revolver acquisition. Last range session was getting light primer stirkes on the .45 acp stuff. Anyone else have this issue? Its my first Redhawk, have had several Blackhawks including one with extra cylinder for .45 acps and never had that issue. I was using Winchester white box which I've been told have notoriously hard primers, but it feeds and fires in everything else I have in .45 acp. So trying to figure out if this is a gun or ammo issue, and if a gun issue, a solution.

QC/QA on WWB has been lacking in recent years. I would try something like American Eagle and see if the issue remains.

I have a Blackhawk. Set up 45 Colt with extra 45acp. Shot more 45acp with it and never missed a beat. Even cast full wad cutter for it. Maybe call to Ruger.

does a second strike fire the cartridge?
    gun new or used?
if used there could be fouling around the transfer bar preventing full energy transfer. if new there could be debris/shavings around the transfer bar preventing full energy transfer.

Thanks, I did see on another forum, that sometimes the bump on the hammer needs to be slightly honed for better contact. Didn't particularly want to do that. I'm about to put some different grips on and while I have it apart I'll make sure everything is clean around the transfer bar, etc.

Yup, it came with several from Ruger, Ruger says they are proprietary and that was my first thought, might not be the right ones. Manuel says not just any moon clip will work...........

I've had problems with WWB in 9mm and the primers were obviously too deep. I haven't had a problem where I believed the primer was too hard.
