    Priceless
Contrary to popular belief, a head shot is not necessarily a guaranteed kill shot....but it sure does take the fight out of 'em.

and if one in every 100,000,000 M&M's contained enough cyanide to kill a person, the Mars candy company would be forced by public outcry to correct it———

If a firearm is used in a crime. The serial number is brought to the manufacturer. They track it from there. It's not held in any database in Louisiana. We don't register firearms. But, yes, they can be tracked, hence the serial number assigned to every firearm that is manufactured. FFL's are required by law to keep their documentation on file for many years. It starts at the manufacturer and works down from there.

FWIW I am constantly amazed with people bringing up the fact of needing to register a firearm. Another misconception is that it has been registered because it was purchased from a dealer with a background check.

As for the registered when bought theory, the feds get their names and serial numbers and that’s all they care about. Is that registration? Hmmm, one could argue that it’s not. But I’m not naive enough to believe that all that info has not been recorded and stored since day one of the the federal background check being instituted and if that’s not registration...well, we can think of another name for it if it’ll make you happy.
Both of you are correct. The US has a lot of very ignorant, stupid, and lazy people. These people don't research anything for themselves, or check facts, or read for the most part; and the remaining media outlets in this country know it all too well. The corrupt media parrots the talking points du jour across their many corrupt affiliates day after day, and it's all the zombies hear or see.

See, there are a lot of people who think that just saying they watch the news precludes them from being considered out of touch, or even ignorant. Fact is, when you take a 30 minute news cast and touch on only the points you want to get across day after day, a very large swath of people will parrot those points as Gospel over time.

Trump has kept a lot of his promises, but if he deserves credit for anything, it's shining the light on "Fake News."
