    Remington Model 31 - late 1940s?

I inherited this shotgun from my dad, and I've looked at various Remington serial number lists trying to find the actual manufacturing date, but the serial number on this gun does not follow the pattern in their lists. The serial number (99155) seems to be high (towards the end of the manufacturing period), but there is no date code (letters indicating the month and year of manufacture).

Anyone have any idea how to date this gun?
