Since we're having red beans and rice for dinner this evening I decided to make some fresh homemade dinner rolls. We call it maw maw bread. My mom had a recipe of her own that I never did get from her before Alzheimer"s took her from us but these suffice.

The dough mixed and set aside for the first rise.

I woke up during the night feeling stuffy and today I can feel a bit of congestion in my chest so I whipped up a lil home remedy of whiskey and honey.

2 oz. and I can feel a difference already. Maybe two more would make me feel much better. Lol.........

I'm pretty sure I've posted this recipe before but here goes again........

I have made loaves as the recipe suggests but I like to make rolls and they come out soft as cotton tender and right out of the oven are pretty darn hard to stop eating. Enjoy!
Also in my oven they are done in 22 minutes so after about 20-22 minutes watch them closely.

    Amish White Bread

    Prep time: 2 hours
    Cook time: 25 mins
Total time: 2 hours 25 mins
    Serves: 2 loaves

Homemade white bread made with 6 simple ingredients
    Ingredients

2 Cups warm water about 110-120 degrees
    ⅔ Cups white sugar
    1½ Tablespoons yeast
    1½ Teaspoons salt
    ¼ cup vegetable oil
    6 cups flour

    Instructions

Place sugar and water in bowl
Sprinkle with yeast and let dissolve 5-15 minutes
Add salt, oil and half the flour mix together.
Add remaining flour. Change to dough hook and mix till its pulling away from the sides.
Pull out onto lightly floured surface and knead shortly
Place in greased bowl flipping to cover both sides.
Top with saran wrap or damp warm towel
Set aside in draft free area and let rise till doubles in size. About 1 hour
    Remove cover and punch down.
Lay out on lightly floured surface and cut in half.
Flaten out into rectangle and "jelly" roll into a loaf.
Pinch ends together and place in greased 9x5 bread pans.
    Repeat with other half.
Cover and let rise till double in size about 30-50 minutes.
    Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees.
Once double in size bake for 25-30 minutes.
Remove from oven and brush top with butter.
Let rest 10 minutes before removing to cooling rack.

    Just some fresh bread porn.

This was a small loaf I made that deflated a bit when I slashed it right before it went into the oven.

That little loaf of bread made for some great sliced bread. I toasted a couple of slices this morning with a hot cup of coffee.

Right out of the oven I put a couple of pats of butter to melt and ooze into the slash on top.
