I feel like I have read a few contradicting rules regarding bow hunting pigs outside of deer season on public land. Is it allowed?
Thanks Gator.
Somebody definitely needs to go clean up at Fountainbleau state park. Last time I brought my scouts out there the sign was crazy. They’ve absolutely ripped the grounds a new ass. Anywhere there’s a live oak with a few acorns on the ground it looks like someone drug a set of discs behind a tractor doing donuts in high gear. We saw quite a few sneaking around both nights. One of our bunch is supposed to be asking the park ranger if any volunteer work might be allowed but I don’t have much hope that they’ll consent to allowing any form of hunting. They’ll likely wait far too long to address the problem and the grounds will look like a Texas suburb pretty soon.
Are you talking about pigs on public land or in general?cliff notes , if there is an ongoing hunting season and you see one, you may kill it.. but you cannot hunt them specifically when no
other game is in season
If the state contracts someone to take pigs it would be for obvious liability reasons. They’d have one entity in there, it would likely be more controlled to keep accidents from happening, and if anything bad were to happen the state would have the contractor to hold accountable. I’m pretty sure any sort of public hunt would wear too hard on the gears of bureaucracy to ever happen. It’s not exactly a fishing rodeo...It’s a shame when law abiding citizens would pay to bowhunt the hogs there but the government will forbid it and pay thousands to a contracted friend to take them out. I’m not saying this is happening yet but if it gets worse that will be the direction they will go.
