Finally got to work on the body some more. Got my patch panels welded in, but have lots of grinding to do before it goes to the paint booth. I also sent my carb and fuel pump off to get rebuilt to two separate businesses in California. They did a great job and I have them back now. Also worked on my drive shafts some. Removed the u joints and just cleaning them up to rebuild and paint them.

I’m sending it off for body and paint work. I’m not looking for total perfection, but I do want the paint to be decent looking and I want it to last. I found an old school body and paint guy not too far from my shop. I’m sure he will be quite impressed with my lack of welding skills. I say this because the panel I welded in in the rear quarter panel did not come out as well as I would have liked. I think that when the Jeep was wrecked in this area it changed the lines I was using to line everything up so after I welded the panel in it was not perfectly flat. It may have warped some from the heat but I tried to stich weld it in different spots to let the heat dissapate. I’m going to look at it this weekend and see if I can correct some of what I’m talking about. If worse comes to worse I could cut it out again and re weld it, but that’s my last option.

Good to see you have someone. Hard to get someone to have a dead car /truck in a shop that does not move easily.
I do my work and shoot it at a friends place or have him do the paint after I do the hard stuff.

I realize it'll be some time before it's up and running but there is a Veterans Day parade in Port Allen and a 4th of July parade in Kenilworth that a lot of people in the various Jeep clubs ride in.

Most long lasting paint will be to use PPG DP line of Epoxy Primers like DP40 then bodywork. Yes, you can do the work over the DP. Or if you or he grind it that's ok too since it is best to seal everything befire paint. As soon as you finish the welding. Bset to seal it up as primers absourb moisture. That way the metal is sealed. Then a Poly Based Primer to block sand fill like Evercoat SlickSand. Then DP40 as a sealer before Paint. That way nothing pops back up.
