So as I was digging in a miscellaneous stuff box at my local pawnshop, I found this little sweetie. I really wish I had taken some before shots!

At first look, there were no markings to be seen on the knife or the scabbard. I thought it was a knock-off piece.

The canvas on the scabbard was brown, the handle appeared to be green with the checkering worn down. Absolutely filthy!

But just a little light brushing with a fingernail brush and a toothbrush removed years of collected grime and revealed what appears to be an un-issued M6!

Not that it's worth a gazillion bucks, but for a $10 take-a-chance, I think I did pretty well!

Nice. Want to quadruple your investment?

Ha ha! Not at the moment - need to enjoy the "finder's glow" for a while! And me without an M1A to mount it on!

Funny this is, before I met my husband (that's right, I'm of the female persuasion!) I had a pretty nice collection. After marriage, we moved around a bit (.mil and the crate seemed to be getting heavier each time!) and priorities changed over time. Ended up selling them. There were a few I wish I had kept, though, a beautiful Swiss Schmidt Rubin, elegant 1879 French & an intact WWI German sawback w/scabbard.
